Taminco's Life Sciences business unit launches its premium feed additive: Taminizer® C |
|
Choline chloride is already marketed for a long time as a by-product of the production of methylamines. It is an essential vitamin, which is added to the feed of a lot of production animals such as chickens and pigs. The past five years Taminco mainly focused on the production and sale of liquid choline chloride solution and became one of the leaders in the world market. However, a lot of manufacturers of animal feed still prefer a dry product.
From a long-standing experience in spray drying, Taminco's R&D team in Ghent developed a revolutionary new version of dry choline chloride: Taminizer® C. Taminizer ® C is the first ever micro-granular choline chloride that remains non-sticky over a longer period of time. Moreover, no other product currently available combines this feature with a very high purity; nearly 100% pure.
Taminizer® C is the finale of an intensive and successful cooperation between several departments and is Taminco's contribution to a safer and more reliable food chain.

New and improved steel drum packaging for Taminco's chemical products |
|
Driven by continuous improvement and fulfilling our customer’s demands, we have – together with our main drum supplier – developed a new drum packaging.
Main features of these new drums:
one color: in order to enhance Taminco's brand recognition, we've chosen one uniform reddish brown colour, instead of the differently colored drums per product which were used up to now.
one coating: the big advantage of this new coating is its great strength which makes it scratch-proof and resistant against damages during handling and transport. The drums are completely painted from top - to bottom, including the weld of the drums (protecting it against corrosion).
one big seal cap: with the Taminco logo …and differently colored small seal caps. Although the drums will look the same, there will still be invisible differences like internal coating and thickness of the drum depending on the product. These differences are necessary to guarantee product and environmental safety.
These new steel drums will be used for all Taminco chemicals drummed in Europe, starting from March 1st 2009. In a later stage the new packaging will be applied to the US drums as well.
For more information about these drums, please contact your usual Taminco representative.

No more plastic cups at Taminco Ghent |
|
In 2008 about 9800 tons of waste was produced at the Ghent site and disposed of externally (mostly by incineration). Although the disposable plastic water and coffee cups constitute just a small part of this sizeable mountain of waste, the decision was taken to replaced all cups by a 'sustainable' T-CARE glass and mug.

Taminco intensifies research of new amine-based feed additives |
|
Taminco has received a grant from the IWT, a Flemish government body, to initiate some fundamental research in the field of advanced screening of new, amine-based feed additives. Historically, the potential activity of new feed additives had to be evaluated through extensive animal testing, which is a labor and capital intensive process, and can involve some animal welfare issues. Taminco, in partnership with two research teams from the University of Gent, will setup and validate new in-vitro tests which are based on modern cytological and bioarrray measurements.
