Different Taminco molecules are used an intermediate for the production of Surfactants. The term surfactant refers to "surface active agent". Surfactants are usually organic compounds containing both hydrophobic and hydrophilic groups. as a result of this, they are soluble in both organic solvents and water. Surfactants are widely used in household applications (detergents, fabric softeners) but also in cosmetic and personal care products (shampoos, bath foams, skin care products etc....).
DMAPA (Dimethylaminopropylamine) is mainly used for the production of cocoamidopropyl betaine (CAPB) which is one of the most amphoteric surfactants on the market. DMAPA is obtained from the reaction between DMA and Acrylonitrile.
DIMLA (Dimethyllaurylamine) is an alkyldimethylamine Taminco produces starting from DMA and Fatty Alcohol. The product, also known as "tertiary amine" finds applications in Derivatives like quats, N-oxides, betaines, sulfobetaines, used in the formulation of detergents, fabric softeners, biocides,... Amietol® M11 (MMEA) and Amietol® M12 (MDEA) can be used for the production of esterquats, as a precursor for fabric softeners and optical brigtheners. Furthermore Amietol® M11 is used in electrodeposition coatings and as pharmaceutical intermediate. |
