At this moment, REACH (Registration, Evaluation and Authorization of Chemicals) is known throughout the chemical industry. We are fast approaching the first registration deadline of December 2010. The Chemical Industry is working very hard to meet this deadline.
At Taminco, we have been involved in the REACH process from the very beginning. We already started to prepare for this implementation in 2006. We are now a member of several consortia, covering all the substances that need to be registered by December 2010. Taminco has taken the role as the lead registrant for 12 substances. A milestone plan is presented in these consortia and so far, we are confident in our ability to meet the required deadlines. Everything is on schedule.
REACH not only affects producers, but also the downstream users. We want to support our customers as much as possible. It’s our goal to implement all the uses of our customers in our registration dossier. In order to do so, we have launched an online questionnaire for our substances which require the 2010 registration deadline. Customers are offered the chance to let Taminco know their uses. Taminco was well prepared for the REACH challenge and is still on track to be compliant. All the requirements that are in force are covered. This is reinforced by the successful audit we had in September 2009. Our company was visited by national authorities to check compliance with regulation 1906/2007. This investigation was part of the REACH-ENFORCE-1 of the ECHA forum. Taminco was audited against Art 5, 6, 31§5 and 31§6 of the REACH regulation. On the basis of this audit it was concluded that there are no indications of non-compliance. We will continue to keep you updated as to our progress on REACH registration.
