Gent, Belgium – October 2, 2006. Taminco reports that it has completed the previously announced acquisition of Air Products’ Higher Amines and Methylamines business.

Taminco is increasing its Methylamines & Derivatives Prices worldwide, as far as contracts allow, with effect from October 1st, 2006.

Gent, Belgium – August 24, 2006. Taminco has reached an agreement with Air Products to acquire its higher amines and methylamines business with a turnover of approximately 310 million US$ in fiscal year 2006 and plants in Pace (Florida, US), St Gabriel (Louisiana, US) and Camaçari (Brasil) and approximately 225 employees. The new entity will become a strong global player in methylamines, a key building block for the pharma and chemicals industry, together with being a market leader in higher amines in the States and Brazil mainly serving the agro industry next to a wide range of different applications.

In spite of the earlier price increase announcements in 2006, Taminco has to conclude that target price increases have not been fully implemented so far. General cost increases on the other hand have even been above expectations in the first two quarters of the year. As a result, margins have been squeezed significantly and consequently a firm price policy with minimum levels will be applied in Q3 for Methylamines & Derivatives in order to ensure a highly necessary margin recovery. Specific increases will be implemented as far as contracts allow.
