Regulate cereal growth with Belcocel chlormequat

1. Mode of action

Belcocel is a plant growth regulator (PGR) for cereals, ornamentals and trees. It reduces stem length and plant height and regulates the flowering and fruiting periods. Chlormequat, the active ingredient, inhibits the action of gibberellic acid, and thus permits shortening and strengthening of stems in plants. It also reduces branching and leaf growth in certain species of shrubs and trees. Coincidentally, the product increases the formation of chlorophyll and the development of the root system, resulting in greater crop yield.

2. Target crops

Four broad types of cultures have been identified which respond to Belcocel treatment:

  • cereal crops
  • cotton
  • fruit trees
  • ornamental plants and shrubs

The spread of benefits can be observed right from growth development through budding to flower and fruit formation and the synchronisation of crop maturity. These improvements help to make mechanical or manual harvesting easier by decreasing and spreading the number of pickings.
Efficacy trials carried out continuously worldwide demonstrate the many benefits of using Belcocel to regulate plant growth.

3. Application

Depending on growing conditions, Belcocel can be used in one or more applications in order to be sure to cover the most sensitive stage.
