1. Principal applications

Rubber Processing auxiliary :

Rubber manufacturers exploit the chemical bonding of TMTD for fast, economical vulcanising. These products are used in wire insulation and jacketing, carpet underlays, latex and the tyre industry. TMTD is widely used in rubber processing as an ultra accelerator for low-temperature cures, either alone or as an activator for other accelerators, chiefly the thiazoles.

It can be used :

  • without sulphur (2 - 4% on the weight of the gum),
  • with sulphur in conjunction with zinc oxide and fatty acids as activators (0.1 -1% TMTD on the weight of the gum),
  • in conjunction with accelerators such as mercaptobenzothiazole (0.25 - 0.50% TMTD on the weight of the gum)

Biocide :

TMTD can be used as "in-can"  preservative, as films and glue preservative, and as biocide for the paper industry.

2. Available formulations

  • TMTD C 98% : Technical product
  • TMTD OT 96%: Technical product oiled (1 - 2.75%)
