1. Mode of actionCrop protection use : Ferbam is a fungicide with a preventive activity and a broad spectrum of action. It inhibits spore germination and mycellium growth by interfering with various enzymes involved in the respiration process. This property of acting on many sites of the biochemical process ensures that the product is free from resistance problems and effective against many fungi. The presence of iron in the compound, in combination with the "dithiocarbamate" function makes the product particularly effective against scab, leaf curl, Anthracnosis, rot and rust which develop on many crops. With regard to this specific spectrum of action, ferbam is recognized as a reference product in citrus protection. Rubber Processing auxiliary : Like TMTD, Ferbam can be used as a ultra fast vulcanisations accelator. It is used in specialty applications. 2. Target cropsFerbam is well tolerated by all crops and is mainly used in fruit cultures, in particular:
Efficacy trials carried out continuously worldwide demonstrate the many benefits of using ferbam in disease management programmes. 3. ApplicationFerbam can be used alone, but Taminco also recommends its use in combination with new selective and curative fungicides. In this respect, ferbam is increasingly becoming an up-to-date compound. When used in combination, ferbam increases the preventive activity, broadens the spectrum of action and reduces the risk of decreased sensitivity to the fungicide with which it is combined. Such combinations are ideally suited to Integrated Pest Management programmes to be used in response to scab warning systems, with the benefits of reduced cost and minimised chemical input into the environment. 4.
