TNBA is utilized in the production of ammonium and phosphonium salts.  Tributylamine is also used commercially as an acid acceptor, as an intermediate in the production of phase transfer catalysts, and used as directly as a catalyst in phenolic resins, polycarbonates, polyesters, and engineered plastics.
