Taminco completes the acquisition of Air Products' Amines business

Gent, Belgium – 2nd October 2006. Taminco reports that it has completed the previously announced acquisition of Air Products’ Higher Amines and Methylamines business.

With this business coming from Air Products, Taminco reaches a turnover of approximately 540 million € and welcomes 225 new employees, operating from the new head office in the Lehigh Valley (Pennsylvania, US) and from the plants in Pace (Florida, US), St Gabriel (Louisiana, US) and Camaçari (Brasil).

Taminco is one of the world's largest producers of methylamines, a key building block for pharmaceutical and chemical industries. Taminco also specializes in methylamine derivatives and serves industries such as agrochemicals, biocides, animal feed additives, rubber processing, performance solvents, water and gas treatment and surfactants. Taminco was founded in 2003, after separating from UCB, the previous parent company. Since then, Taminco has acquired the methylamines and derivatives business of Air Products in Europe together with a number of commercial contracts and obligations for methylamines and choline chloride from Akzo Nobel, growing the business from 180 million € in 2003 to 264 million € in 2005. Taminco maintains headquarters in Gent, Belgium with production sites in Gent (Belgium), Leuna (Germany) and Shanghai (China) and worldwide 15 sales offices and approximately 460 employees.
