Taminco’s preharvest management products, Desikote®Max and Spodnam, control podshatter in podded crops and act as anti-transpirants in cereals and grass seed crops.
Main characteristics of Desikote®Max and Spodnam:
Podshatter control
- By controlling pod splitting and improving pod fill, it enables crops of canola (oilseed rape), peas and beans to retain their full yield potential. It checks pod senescence to increase the normal maximum pod fill and stops the re-entry of water (from dew or rain) into the pods, which can delay combining and cause shatter.
- DESIKOTE®MAX & Spodnam avoid the need for desiccation or swathing, except where weed and/or secondary growth could cause a harvesting problem, and thus lets the whole crop reach full maturity before harvesting. Pod shatter is controlled weeks beyond the normal harvesting date and thus DESIKOTE® MAX & Spodnam allow a crop to grow to its fullest extent, producing its maximum yield of seed (and oil) per hectare.
Anti-transpirant
- Application of DESIKOTE®MAX or Spodnam (either alone or with an approved formulation of glyphosate) at 30% grain moisture content will provide an excellent way of preserving the quality of a harvested cereal crop. It will achieve this by helping to preserve sprouting in lodged crops, delaying the decline in Hagberg values, controlling the loss of malting and milling quality, and reducing the shedding of grain. Additionally, germination quality is maintained in crops grown for seed.
