One family of derived products is based on the ethoxylation of methylamines. For several years, Taminco has been recognized as a world leader in the production of a specific group of chemicals, called alkylalkanolamines (AAA). These products are mainly used in water treatment and in the surfactant industry, with another major application in the oil and gas industry.
Amietol® M12 (Methyldiethanolamine or MDEA) was the first product of this kind, in Taminco's portfolio, to be used in oil & gas applications. Resulting from the ethoxylation of monomethylamine, MDEA is used extensively to desulphurize oil & gas streams - a process often referred to as oil or gas sweetening. Having developed a state-of-the-art technology to produce this chemical, Taminco has brought additional value to the market by setting a new quality standard. Our superior product quality helps to prevent operational problems and expensive downtime in processing units through the absence of by-products. These impurities could otherwise lead to corrosion problems and foaming issues, resulting in operational malfunctions or even equipment breakdown. The specific engineering and process knowledge we've built up over the years enables us to serve our customers with a product that meets or exceeds the highest quality standards.
At a later stage we added Activated Amietol® M12 (a formulation of Amietol® M12) to our product range, which in addition to H2S removal is also suited for simultaneous deep CO2 removal. Having an established track record, its product performance is highly appreciated by many professional users and continues to find its way in the highly demanding market of oil & gas treatment.
In addition to these products, which are used in a typical regenerative process, Taminco has also developed a formulation for H2S scavenging. Amietol® M33 is based on a triazine (a cyclic tertiary amine) and is used for removing low concentrations of H2S from both oil & gas streams. Often used on off-shore platforms, both Amietol® M33 and its reaction products are readily biodegradable.
Taminco offers solutions for the use of these products tailored to customers' specific applications, and has adopted a fully flexible, modular-approach business model to fulfill the needs of our customers.
