Water for People Ghent

To Taminco, care not only means taking care of our customers, suppliers, colleagues and neighbors... but also taking care of the environment and the society we live in.

As one of our business units is active in the water treatment industry, we chose to center our initiatives on the theme "water". A campaign "Water for People" was launched.

Water is essential for our environment and our lives. Although water supply comes naturally to many of us, there are still over 1 billion people in our world who do not have access to clean drinking water. The handling of waste water and general water management are also critical issues in our current society.

By supporting social water projects, Taminco hopes to add an extra dimension to its Care value. We are convinced that - thanks to our employees putting into practice Taminco's declared values of Passion, Integrity and Care - we will be able to fully complete our "Water for People" project.

Taminco and Protos:

protos logo-2.jpgA specific water project has been developed in cooperation with the Belgian non profit organisation, Protos, in favour of the Western African country Benin. In this country, drinking water is not directly accessible: in the region around Natitingu 9.600 people have to walk over 3 kilometres a day to the nearest well, a total of 28.800km!

These 28.800 km are for us a symbolic distance within our project: a large group of Taminco colleagues has committed him or herself to running, cycling, walking or swimming as much kilometers as possible. Our aim is to reach this 28.800 kms together! Taminco will take the lead in sponsoring these efforts and kilometers, but we want to involve more partners to contribute to this project.

With the money collected from this project and together with the organisation Protos, we want to help the people in Benin, not only by digging wells, but also by advising them how to maintain these installations on a long term basis.
