The Belgian Research Station for Fruit Growing has presented the results of Taminco's new fruit thinning agent at the Eufrin meeting.

Ghent, Belgium, 24 March 2011 - news release

The European Fruit Thinning Working Group (Eufrin) and the involved industry partners gathered in Wageningen, the Netherlands from March 3-5.

Fruit thinning is considered as an essential tool for pome fruit growers to ensure high quality fruits and consistent production over the years. Currently there's uncertainty about the availability of effective solutions for the farmers due to the fact that existing fruit thinning products are not re-registered at EU level or the registration process is still ongoing. Because of this uncertain situation the promising results of the trials of Taminco's new thinning agent on apples performed in 2009 and 2010, generated much interest from both the academia and industry. The new product is a natural auxin precursor and is one of the first products resulting from Taminco's new sustainable agrochemical development pipeline.

Further development of the new product on a broader scale will take place in 2011.
