| Taminco announces major US investment to globalize its position in Tertiary Amines |
|
Ghent, 25 November 2010 - press release Taminco is investing in a new state-of-the-art production unit for Tertiary Amines (DIMLATM – various chainlengths) in North America. The new unit, which is scheduled to come on stream in the course of 2012, will be constructed in Pace, Florida, where Taminco produces Methylamines, a key feedstock for the Tertiary Amines. Taminco, which is already producing Tertiary Amines in Europe (Ghent, Belgium), will apply its own proprietary technology starting from Dimethylamine and Fatty Alcohol, derived from natural oils. This “natural” production process is considered a key route to support prevailing market trends for renewable and green surfactants. Tertiary Amines are key building blocks in growing market segments, such as detergents, disinfectants, personal care and many other applications. Taminco has made this investment decision after reaching an agreement for certain volumes with Procter & Gamble – a leading player in the surfactant industry and a large downstream user for Tertiary Amines. “After making two other major investment announcements for amine derivatives recently, both in the US and China, this Tertiary Amine investment is considered a next important step in Taminco’s integration and globalization strategy”, said Executive Vice President for Taminco’s Functional Chemicals division Geoff Ingham. |
